CONDITIONS
This Equivalency Certificate authorizes BRP Consultants Inc., its distributors and
clients to handle, offer for transport or transport and authorizes any person to
handle, offer for transport or transport on behalf of the certificate holder, on a
road vehicle, dangerous goods that are UN2990, LIFE-SAVING APPLIANCES,
SELF-INFLATING, Class 9, or UN3072, LIFE-SAVING APPLIANCES NOT
SELF-INFLATING, containing dangerous goods as equipment, Class 9, in a
manner that does not comply with sections 4.15 and 4.15.3 of the Transportation
of Dangerous Goods Regulations, if:
(a) the life-saving appliances are designed, constructed, filled, closed, secured,
and maintained so that under normal conditions of transport, including
handling, there will be no accidental release of the dangerous goods that could
endanger public safety;
(b) the gross mass of the dangerous goods is less than or equal to 1 000 kg;
(c) the life-saving appliances have displayed on them a label, and the other
safety marks required under sections 4.11 and 4.12 of the Transportation of
Dangerous Goods Regulations, on four sides;

CONDITIONS
(d) the safety marks mentioned in condition (c) of this certificate are visible from
outside the road vehicle;
(e) in addition to the requirements of Part 6 (Training) of the Transportation of
Dangerous Goods Regulations, the certificate holder ensures that the
personnel handling, offering for transport or transporting the dangerous goods
is trained in regards to the conditions of this Equivalency Certificate;
(f) the shipping document that accompanies the dangerous goods includes the
following information legibly and indelibly printed:
“Equivalency Certificate No. SH 10678 (Ren. 2)”
Note: The issuance of this Equivalency Certificate in no way reduces the
certificate holder's responsibility to comply with any other requirements of
the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, the Technical
Instructions for the Safe Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Air, the
International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code, and the Canadian Aviation
Regulations not specifically addressed in this certificate.

Explanatory Note
This Equivalency Certificate authorizes the certificate holder to transport lifesaving appliances without having to display the Class 9 placard on the road
vehicle. The safety marks normally required on a small means of containment
shall be displayed on all four sides of the life-saving appliance.
