Mrs. Joos (2015-2016) Academic lab 8 class Classroom Norms: 1. Be RESPONSIBLE We will bring required materials to class each day. We will be on time and in our seat when the bell rings. 2. BE RESPECTFUL We will be respectful to others and their property. We will talk appropriately in language, tone and volume. 3.BE SAFE We will follow directions the first time given. We will be careful with movement around the room at transition times. 4. BE ENGAGED We will work quietly and independently. We will participate in class discussions. Following all classroom norms (expectations) is expected of ALL students! POSITIVE REINFORCERS Phone calls home (good news) Positive notes sent home with student Earned computer time/free time Class incentives CONSEQUENCES Moving to another seat away from distractions Phone call home (about behavior) Lunch duty Detention Severe behavior issues will be referred to the Administration. Required materials for Academic lab class: Notebook with subject dividers College ruled lined paper Pens/pencils/erasers Colored pencils Highlighters Calculator Graph paper (when needed) Book to read (when finished with daily work) USB drive (recommended) ** Be sure to bring all required materials each day. Please bring a book to read in case you finish your work early. Some items may be stored in the classroom until needed. Grading: In Academic Lab grades are based on criteria from the Daily point sheet. I was in my seat and ready to work when class began. I had my planner filled out completely. I used my time well. I brought a book to read after my goals for the day were completed. I showed respect to myself, others, and property. I followed ALL classroom rules. EXTRA HELP available: Some math teachers provide MATH HELP on Mondays and Thursdays after school. I will be at some of the Math help sessions on Thursdays to provide extra support. If your student plans on attending let me know and I will make every effort to be there that week! ABSENCES: Students are expected to be in Academic lab each day so that they can receive the support needed to be successful at KJH. PROGRESS REPORTS: will be updated every 3 weeks online and a printed out copy will be sent home with your student to have signed and returned. Daily procedure in Academic Lab class: Take out daily planner & fill out any information that is missing. Discuss (as a class) various assignments, projects and tests. Planner check by teacher (initials or stamp if checked) Set up a daily plan of what to work on each day. Work on goal areas as stated in each individual IEP, clarification will be given in order to complete homework, work on projects, study individually, or have a structured study session for an upcoming test with other students and teacher. May also start or finish a test for another class during Academic lab time. I have read and understand the classroom procedures and expectations.
