Waste Reuse Action Team
Charge:
Create and implement programs that promote reuse of campus materials.
Objectives:
The objectives or actions should include but are not limited to such things as:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
Work with Surplus Property to promote their services
Move-in and Move-out
Investigate Tradepal’s student to student ReUse initiative
Electronics Exchange/Disposal Program
Reclaimed Paint Services Program
Bio-digester for Dining/Agricultural Waste
Create a terra-cycling/up-cycling program for reuse of materials working with
engineering students.
8. Increase effectiveness of Campus Supply by establishing “Louie’s List.” Sort
lightly used appliances and electronics to be sold or rented at NAU’s Property
Surplus Services. Train volunteers and student groups such as Greek Life to
conduct end of school year presentations at NAU but especially in the residence
halls in order to educate residents about the importance of donating gently used
items and canned food to local charities.
9. Create a school-wide donation area that will be providing people on and off
campus a chance to donate used materials. Create sorted bins for donated items
such as electronics, clothes, food, appliances, etc. This could be the concept of a
“free room” extension of Campus Supply with satellite locations across campus.
Fundamental Principles for all Action Teams:
1.
2.
3.
4.
Develop metrics for measuring current and future waste generation
Develop reports to measure progress and impact
Educational/Promotional programs
