PUPIL PREMIUM GRANT The School has a low but increasing level of social deprivation. We have 30 children who are categorised as disadvantaged children. These include service children and children who have been in receipt of FSM at any time over the last 6 years. We are committed to ensuring that all children achieve their best and we strive to treat children as individuals and break down any barriers to their learning or well being so that all children reach their full potential. Improvements over the last two years New extension has allowed us to create a designated room for social and emotional support and a room for 1:1 teaching. Training for teaching assistants on Ruth Miskin and Guided writing The school was part of a Devon County Council project on “Closing the Gap for Disadvantaged children”. Collaboration with our local trust schools to help raise standards in literacy and maths. Increase in the number of trained volunteers who read with the children. Introduction of maths homework software for Year 5 to support parental engagement. Pupil Premium pupils in a wide range of groups. Evaluation Pupil Premium pupils are making at least expected progress. We need to target more able PP pupils to ensure they make more than expected progress. Intervention in maths is not having as much impact as the Literacy intervention which is a structured, small steps, errorless approach. We needed to find an equivalent for maths to support PP pupils who in some cases have not had the early year’s mathematical experience. Funding for 2015/2016 The school will receive £29,680 for the financial year April 2015 – March 2016. Innovations for 2015/2016 Academic Year Project 1. 2.
