The role of the intern will be to provide technical and administrative support to
marine and coastal conservation projects (Grenadine Bank Seascape Project and
Ashton Lagoon Restoration Project) that will include reporting, planning
workshops, and proposal writing.
The intern will
 Assist in coordinating the celebration of the Caribbean Endemic Bird
Festival
 Assist in developing educational material for our current projects
 Work with a small NGO (Southern Grenadines Water Taxi Association –
SGWTA, Union Island Environmental Attackers – UIEA in providing
technical advice to their groups
 Assisting Union Island Nature Adventure Tours Inc. in their leatherback
turtle monitoring to include counts, tagging etc
 Caribbean water census monitoring: Assisting the Union Island
Environmental Attacker (UIEA) and SusGren with their bird monitoring at
Ashton lagoon and Belmont salt pond.
 Ashton Lagoon Water Quality Monitoring Program – To aid in restoration of
a mangrove forest
 Assist in organizing workshops for the various project being implemented
at the time and helping with writing reports
 Assist with upcoming proposal writing for projects
 Assist SusGren in organizing communities and groups for international
environmental days. Start with the planning for the International Coastal
Clean-up (ICC) Day. Develop a schedule of activities leading up to ICC
2015 and start the fundraising drive
 Assisting in helping form a Junior Ranger Program for schools kids on the
island
 Canadian citizen or permanent resident
 Graduate or senior undergraduate student enrolled at Dalhousie
University in good academic and financial standing
 Registered in a course for which the student will gain academic credit
for the internship placement during the term of the internship
Internship placements will normally occur in the summer term. The duration is 3-6
months. Financial support for the internship is available.
