Marine Affairs Program, Dalhousie University Ocean and Coastal Livelihood and Governance in the Caribbean Region Internship Placement Description Position Title: Country: Internship host Placement description Marine Protected Area Management Assistant Union Island, Grenadines Sustainable Grenadines Inc (SusGren) The role of the intern will be to provide technical and administrative support to marine protected areas projects (Strengthening Management Capacity at the South Coast Marine Conservation Area (SCMCA) and the Tobago Cays Marine Park (TCMP) in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) Project, and Strengthening Reef Management in the Grenada Bank Project) that will include reporting, planning workshops, and proposal writing. The intern will Assist with building capacity at site level for effective management of marine protected areas in the region. Assist in coordinating the celebration of the Caribbean Endemic Bird Festival Assist in developing biodiversity awareness and education programs for users, communities and the wider public Assisting Union Island Nature Adventure Tours Inc. in their leatherback turtle monitoring to include counts, tagging etc Assist in organizing workshops for the various project being implemented at the time and helping with writing reports Assist with upcoming proposal writing for projects Qualifications Canadian citizen or permanent resident Graduate or senior undergraduate student enrolled at Dalhousie University in good academic and financial standing Registered in a course for which the student will gain academic credit for the internship placement during the term of the internship Internship placements will normally occur in the summer term. The duration is 3-6 months. Financial support for the internship is available.
