Recommendations on Identifying Goals and Objectives of an Internship
(Student Use ONLY - Not to be submitted)
NOTE: This is only a recommended step for those companies that are unfamiliar with the internship
process. If the company has an already established process, there is no need to do this step.
Creating goals and objectives at the beginning of an internship can eliminate any confusion on behalf of
the employer or student as to the expectations the company will have of the student. This list also
enables the student an outline for the final summary paper that will be submitted for grading. Write
each goal in parallel form, begin each statement with the same form of speech (Example: use all action
verbs such as develop, understand, or implement). List as many goals and objectives as needed.
