Hamish Denham
Hamish returned to Barr in 2010, where he grew up, after serving as a British Army Officer in the Royal
Army Veterinary Corps for 11 years. During that time he was employed as a veterinary surgeon and in
staff (administration and policy) and command (management and leadership) roles in UK, Germany,
Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq, and Cyprus. Hamish retired from the Army to return home with his young family
to take up a partnership in local Veterinary Practice, which serves the agricultural community as well as
the populations domestic pets. A resourceful capable and insightful manager, committed to the wellbeing of Barr community, Hamish is currently Chairman of Barr Community Council and the Treasurer of
The Barr Parish Development Company Ltd.
Jacqueline Logan
After early careers in medicine and finance Jackie studied for a BA Hons in Humanities with Art. On
Completion of her degree she took up a post with York Museums Trust , in charge of managing the
Collections of Art, Archaeology, Ceramics, Natural Science, Photography and Social History. Jackie’s
knowledge and skills in Arts and Heritage were acquired over eight years, some of which helped
contribute to successful Heritage Lottery bids and other funding for York Art Gallery, York Castle
Museum and the Yorkshire Museum. Core responsibilities for funding applications were managing and
collating the information required from all departments; Directorial, Curatorial, Finance, Business
Planning and Marketing plus Architects, Planners and Contractors, then compiling the application to the
timescale required.
Alex Forsyth.
Alex Forsyth is the founder and senior partner of Electrical Engineering firm Alexander Partners
Switchgear and Control Gear (AP Switchgear). Formed 20 years ago AP Switchgear design manufacture
and install, low voltage heavy current, critical power supplies for the banking sector, data centres and
government establishments. AP Switchgear also design, manufacture and install control systems for the
waste industry including but not limited to energy from waste plant, hazardous waste incineration,
hydroclaves, gasification, materials recovery as well as research and development of other alternative
technologies.
Skills: Project planning and implementation, good communicator, team player, focused, always open to
new ideas, enjoys thinking outside the box.
Interests: Family, environment, community wellbeing, Member of Barr Community Council, Barr Parish
Development Company Ltd. (Secretary), Carrick Futures Ltd. (Director).
Isabel Kay
Isabel has worked over the last 37 years with husband Andrew to develop a successful family farming
business, currently engaging with the Scottish Rural Development Program. Responsibilities and
attributes are the management and planning of the business side of farming, working with the elements
and unpredictable circumstances. Isabel also administers and manages a small property portfolio. An
office bearer for various community groups, she organises and manages ‘Barr Teas’, run by volunteers,
raising a great deal of funds for local charities. Member of Barr Community Council and Chair of BPDC
Alexander Tait

Communications Analyst/SIB: - Essentially, this role involved working on both Satellite and Landline
networking systems with particular emphasis on both Diversity and Security.

Teaching adults and children of different ages, in various software applications, involving covering
Helpdesks, Computer Operations and Networks. Key points of understanding:
• desktop computing: word processing, spreadsheets, Databases and graphics.
• Multimedia Web Design: Java Script, HTML
• Software Engineering, Cobal, Pascal, and C++
• basic hardware configurations: Hard Drive, Graphic, sound and network cards incl. all connections
• basic networking terminology. Platforms - Windows, Mac, Unix, Novell etc. WAP, WAN and LAN's

Merlin Corbett
Returning to Scotland, having worked for over 20 years as a prop maker and scene painter in theatre,
TV. Film and musicals, Merlin’s multiplicity of skills and wide-ranging design experience has proved a
great advantage in creatively realizing client’s aspirations and ideas & proved an asset in actively
engaging communities. As the ‘arts’ of LXarts ltd. with designer Anett Forsyth, regeneration project
range across Glasgow, North Lanarkshire and Ayrshire, from providing a stainless steel sculpture for the
Falkirk Wheel, working with seven schools along the Millennium Link, unveiled by Princess Anne, to
large murals in areas of deprivation and arts workshops for teachers, children and target groups.
As an artist and illustrator, commissions include illustrations for children’s books, innovative signage,
paleo-illustrations, logos leaflets and marketing tools. Consistent in high standards of delivery, Merlin is
an excellent communicator and inspiring project leader with able to stimulate, motivate and develop
peoples aspirations. Adaptable and versatile. Vice Chair Barr Community Council and BPDC Director.
Alasdair Currie
Alasdair is a trained Fine Artist in the disciplines of sculpture and public art and as such has experience
of working in the public sector with the NHS in Tayside and Aberdeenshire, Dundee City Council, Fife
Regional Council and The Green Heart Partnership (Hertfordshire). He maintains his own private practise
and has shown in galleries both here in the UK and abroad.
In addition, he has also worked privately as a garden designer in London on projects for private clients
and managed a garden container business. Currently Alasdair works as horticultural researcher/manager
for Garden Exposures Photo Library, writes for publications and journals specialising in garden design
and landscape architecture, whilst also developing and running a successful B&B in the village of Barr.
He is a Community Councillor and a Director of Carrick Futures (a windfarm community benefit
company).
Elaine Denham
Elaine started her career working as a solicitor in private practice in Cardiff before joining the Royal Air
Force as a Legal Officer for 10 years working at various military establishments within the UK and
Europe. Her areas of legal expertise are very varied due to the diverse roles she fulfilled whilst serving
and include employment, contracts and litigation. Retiring from the RAF in the rank of Squadron Leader
to focus on raising her family she has more recently engaged in voluntary work, working in a
conveyancing legal practice and dual qualifying as a solicitor in Scotland.
She is currently employed in a third sector organisation working in the field of welfare rights, preparing
the company for audit and assisting with grant and tender applications. Elaine is currently Chair of the
Barr Parent & Toddler Group and Secretary of Barr Primary Parent Council.
