Friends of the Wagga Wagga City Library PO Box 5571 WAGGA WAGGA No 9, October 2015 Friends of the Library Book Sale: This coming Friday and Saturday, 9th and 10th October, the Friends will hold their final book sale for the year. Friday from 4pm till 6pm, and on Saturday, 9am till 12 noon. This will be held inside only, on Level Zero on the Friday afternoon. But it will be expanding into the courtyard on the Lagoon as well, on Saturday morning. There is a lot of stock put aside for this sale, so it will be a good one for the keen browsers and those opportunists amongst us, who just love a lucky dip type sale. Helpers from our Friends will be greatly appreciated, either on Friday or Saturday, to assist sales and the clean up afterwards. Storytime is just for the littlies, 10am and 11am on Wednesdays and Fridays. For children 0 to 5 years in the children’s area. Stories, craft, songs and more, all for free. No bookings are necessary, more information on this can be checked out on ph. 69269700. As part of the “Fusion 2015 “ event coming up soon, there has been a number of drumming workshops, with participants preparing for a public performance during the Fusion 2015 Festival, on 17th October. Djembe Drumming Workshops have been conducted by Frank Newah-Jarfoi in the library, preparing for this event. If you are downtown of an evening, between 6.30pm and 10.30pm, until the 12th October, check out the projection on the Civic Centre northern wall. Andrew Hagan’s work, “Watches” has been chosen as the first of the commissioned projections. This is part of the Public Art plan 201416 for Wagga Wagga. A free hearing clinic: For all of us who are definitely not deaf, nor do we have any hearing loss! That is one in six of us in Australia. Australian Hearing will conduct a free clinic on Tuesday 27th October from 10am till 1pm, in the Community Learning Space on Level one. Bookings are essential though, to reserve your space by phoning 69269700, or online: wcl@wagga.nsw.gov.au Next monthly meeting for the Friends will be on Tuesday 13th October at 4.45pm, in the Community Learning Space on Level One. Due to lack of numbers last month, this will be the Annual General Meeting, so please attend if you can.
