Textbook/Supplementary Resources: Materials used are housed in the classroom. No textbooks for this grade level. Workbooks are provided for student use. Classroom Supplies: Each student is expected to bring sharpened pencils to class each day. Pencils should be standard #2. Novelty pencils are not encouraged. This will eliminate confusion in the classroom. A standard eraser is also required. Crayons, or colored pencils can be placed in a pencil box as part of their supplies. Pencil sharpeners are not advisable. Our classroom is equipped with heavy duty sharpener. Attendance: students re expected to be present on a daily basis. If a student is absent, a note is required to excuse their absence. Upon their return, class work that was missed will be sent home and should be returned the next day. Student Behavioral and Academic Expectations/Non-Negotiables: All students are to be attentive and responsive to classroom activities at all times. In our class the stop light behavior modification system is practiced. At the beginning of class all students are on the ‘green’ level. Disruptive students will be given a verbal reprimand. If unacceptable behavior continues, the student’s name card will be placed on the ‘yellow’ level. As the last reminder of improper behavior, students will be put on red and a parent will be called. No student has the right to stop others from learning. Assessments/Evaluations: Daily activities will be given and graded. Ten assignments will be selected for posting in the grade book.
