Postdoctoral Research Scientist, Neuronal Stress and Neuroprotection School of Medicine / Cúram Ref. No. NUIG-010-15 Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full-time fixed term position as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist on a collaborative project with the Neuronal Stress and Neuroprotection research group and the Centre for Research in Medical Devices (Cúram) at the National University of Ireland, Galway. This position is funded by Enterprise Ireland and is available from 1st June 2015 for 2 years. Job Description: The successful candidate will investigate the impact of reperfusion strategy on the extent of haemorrhagic transformation following ischaemic stroke. The investigation will require a range of the following skills: In vivo rodent stroke models; small animal surgery; histology; immunochemistry. Qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in the Biomedical Sciences. The ideal candidate should have a track record in the area of stroke research, would have experience in the rat middle cerebral artery occlusion model of stroke, stereology, histology, and immunohistochemistry. In vivo rodent stroke model experience is essential. Candidates should be highly motivated and have excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Salary: €37,750 - €38,860 per annum (public sector pay policy pertaining to new entrants will apply) Start date: Position is available from 1st June 2015.
