Researcher - System Architect –FarmEye College of Engineering and Informatics Ref. No. NUIG 108-14 Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a part-time (50%) fixed term position as a Researcher - ICT System Architect with the Discipline of IT at the National University of Ireland, Galway. This position is funded by Enterprise Ireland and is available from March 1st 2015 to contract end date of August 31st 2016. The FarmEye project is a joined collaboration initiative between the Discipline of Geography (http://www.nuigalway.ie/geography) and the Discipline of IT (http://www.it.nuigalway.ie) at NUI Galway. It involves domain experts from a wide range of areas including geo-spatial statistics, GIS, farm management and ICT. The FarmEye project has a strong commercial focus and it is envisaged that it will result in a start-up company. Job Description: The successful candidate, as instructed by the project leader, will be responsible for the design, integration, validation and overall project management of our next generation farm management / farm intelligence software. The postholder will also liaise closely with researchers / domain experts from other disciplines are well as with beta testers and trial partners. Qualifications: The ideal candidate should have a track record in a software development environment and strong IT / software development and project management experience is essential. Applicants must have a 3rd level qualification in computer science or applied ICT. The ideal candidate would have experience in ICT infrastructure design, project management, app development, quality assurance, software testing, databases, client / server and web programming. Candidates should have excellent communication and organizational skills; be highly motivated and passionate about developing new products; and have strong documentation, oral and interpersonal skills. Employment permit restrictions apply for this category of post Salary: €32,930 – €40,003 per annum, pro-rata for this part-time post.
