EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY Communications Coordinator - Lynn Haven United Methodist Church (Panama City, FL) 6/18/15 Lynn Haven United Methodist Church (LHUMC) is seeking a Communications Coordinator. This position plans, executes, and evaluates effectiveness of LHUMC's internal and external public outreach programs. This individual will be a subject matter expert for all communication matters pertaining to LHUMC's activities. They will train appointed interns and volunteers on the churches public outreach programs and provide public relations advice, counsel, and support to the pastoral staff, the music and ministry staff members, and the volunteer leadership team. Principle Communications Duties: Responsible for all LHUMC internal and external public outreach correspondence ensuring the church speaks as one, unified voice. This correspondence oversight and development will include but not be limited to: creating newsletters, bulletins, event flyers, press releases, the church website, and social media content Coordinate with ministry leaders to develop and provide communication for programs and special events, and discuss effective communication strategies to use in order to effectively communicate and publicize events Create comprehensive communication strategies, coordinate and develop publications, and materials to effectively promote LHUMC to the community, as well as develop and manage internal communications processes Coordinate onsite print products for upcoming series, classes, programs, and events Develop and maintain an annual communications plan Continued on Next Page Serve as spokesperson/primary media contact, establish relationships with members of print, television, and web media businesses and contacts, and utilize all media outlets in an effective manner to best promote LHUMC events Analyze the LHUMC mission, policies, and relationships with the local community to determine communication requirements and strategies Develop goals and objectives that integrate LHUMC core messages into outreach products Plan communication programs to ensure church members and the public are informed about current and future LHUMC activities, issues, and policies Create fliers, articles, and social media coverage of events in which LHUMC members participate or have participated in. Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Requirements: Possess exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills Believe in the church’s overall mission, methods, principles, and structure Knowledge of and experience with the principles and practices of public relations and marketing technologies and design Possess organizational skills with attention to details Ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with staff, volunteers, businesses, and community leaders Possess a general understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite Have bachelor’s degree or two years’ experience in communications, media design, marketing journalism, or other field related degree Have a passion for helping reach the unchurched and a willingness to commit to membership to LHUMC within 12 months of employment.
