Pupil Premium Grant Statement in Regard to Pupil Premium Funding 2014-15 Pupil Premium is an amount of money paid into school in regard of the following: Pupils who are eligible to receive Free School Meals (whether they take them or not). At The Curzon Church of England Primary School, Pupil Premium money is used to ensure all FSM children and LAC children are supported in making at least good academic progress, making a minimum of 2 sub levels progress every school year. Total Amount Delegated to this school 2014 -15: £10,200 How do we use the Pupil Premium Grant at The Curzon CE Primary School? Following close scrutiny of the successes and challenges of last year’s spending, an analysis of the needs of children entitled to pupil premium in our setting and pupil progress and attainment analysis, we plan to spend our pupil premium grant 2014-15 for the following: Well-being group Our well-being group in school supports children with social and emotional skills. We employ a teaching assistant to work with these identified children who listens to as well as give advice how to deal with issues. Small group intervention sessions in Literacy and Mathematics Pupil premium children are a group of children whose progress and attainment we monitor very closely. If there are gaps in learning or children identified as requiring accelerated progress, they receive one-to-one tuition which is funded by our pupil premium money. We support a range of children which include those with learning needs (in a specific area sometimes) and social/emotional needs by having a TA working with them individually or in a small group. This group consists of pupils who are progressing at a slower rate than their peers in mathematics and literacy. These children are identified and reviewed via termly assessments by class teachers. ‘Reading’ Programme To ensure that all of our children who are entitled to pupil premium have access to daily reading with an adult either with a reading book or on the programme Toe by Toe. Enrichment activities Pupil premium budget is used to subsidise school visits and after school clubs for those children where payment is a barrier to participation. Impact on Attainment We are constantly evaluating the impact of this funding. Over the last 3 years the employment of these initiatives in school has: Reduced rates of exclusions in school for pupils Accelerated progress in literacy and numeracy Allowed children to keep pace with their peers in learning Reduced anxiety and other behavioural issues to enable children to access learning, work in groups with others more successfully, organise their learning and complete homework Enabled children to gain confidence in areas of Maths and English that they may find challenging. Enabled these children to attend the residential visit to enhance the curriculum.
