About arc: building better business
Inspired by the hosting of the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games, Business in the
Community has created arc: building better business, a social enterprise development
programme that will create jobs in areas of deprivation. Our ambition is to create 1000 jobs in
East London by 2015, and a further 1,000 jobs in West London by 2016. arc will provide
access to resources from businesses, third and public sector organisations to support social
enterprises to grow.
arc is business led working with a range of business partners led by Founder Partners BP,
Deloitte and Visa Europe.
More information about arc can be found on the dedicated project website: www.bitcarc.org.uk
The Team
The Enterprise Campaign comprises a team of eight BITC staff, together with volunteers from
our business partners in some key roles.
The Enterprise Campaign is intricate, complicated and extremely fast-moving with many
interdependencies and connections between our various activities, targets and partnerships.
We have over 30 formal partnerships with organisations in the private, public, voluntary and
social enterprise sectors (including five Business Partners), with an additional network of 50
organisations attached to arc.
We expect to develop further partnerships nationally including community, business and
government. The successful maintenance of these partnerships within a constantly changing
environment will be critical to campaign’s success.
The candidate will need to be flexible, hands-on and able to deal with this complexity, and to
take on new accountabilities and responsibilities as the project continues to grow.
