Dear Pershing Parent,
Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year! I am very excited about this new school year and look forward
to working with all of you to ensure a productive and successful school year. For regular information
concerning our school, please see our website.
*This year we welcome several new staff members:

*Back to School Night will be held on Wednesday, August 12, from 4:30-5:30 for all grades. Students
can meet their teacher and drop off school supplies. Also at Back to School Night our PTA will be
selling memberships. For all families purchasing a membership, the family will receive free hotdogs.
For example, if a family of four purchases one PTA membership, the family will receive four free
hotdogs. Thanks to our business partner, Nodaway Valley Bank, for helping with this.
*There will be a breakfast for Kindergarten parents on the first day of school. Once our Kindergarten
students have gone to class, all K parents are invited to a light breakfast in the library. The Pershing
PTA is sponsoring this great event for K parents to network and learn more about our school.
*Class lists will be posted on the front of the building the first week in August. Unfortunately, no
changes will be made to established class assignments.

We are currently looking for lunchroom volunteers. Please call the school if you are interested. We
appreciate your consideration.
*Student arrival time: Students can arrive on school premises at 8:30; At this time grades 2-6 students
will proceed directly to their classrooms where they will eat free breakfast. Grades K and 1 students
will report directly to the cafeteria where they will meet their teachers for breakfast.There is no staff
supervision available until 8:30 so please do not drop early in order to ensure student safety and
security. We will work closely with Apple Bus on arrival/dismissal procedures. Bells are as follows:
8:35 School & breakfast start (First bell)
8:45 Tardy Bell (Second bell)
