9th Grade General Music Class

Students enrolled in this class will study the following:

Basic rhythmic concepts
Musical terms and definitions
A brief history of Western music from 450 AD to the present time (including
American music history)
Some of the teaching tools used in this class may include (but are not limited to):

Work sheets/review sheets provided by the teacher
Students are required to take notes every class. There is no text book used for this
class, so students must rely on their notes when studying for exams. Grades are given
twice yearly and are based on the following:
□ Exams ( 33 1/3% of total grade)
□ Notebooks (33 1/3% of total grade)---will be collected at the end of each marking
period when grades are due
□ Participation in classroom discussions and hands-on learning experiences (23 1/3% of
total grade)
□ Classroom behavior (10% of total grade)
