Ancient Egyptian Fairytale
Read a fairytale. Write down the plot of the fairytale. Rewrite the fairytale, making it
reflect life in ancient Egypt, and add illustrations, creating a children’s storybook. Story
should have at least 10 pages; each page needs at least 5 sentences and a colorful
illustration needs to be on each page. Change the setting, characters, and conflicts to reflect
ancient Egyptian items. For example, instead of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, you
could write a story called Nefertiti and the Seven Tomb Robbers. Story needs to be typed
and all artwork done by hand. You will read your story to your small group.
Ancient Egyptian Daily Life & Clothing
Research what daily life was like in ancient Egypt for different levels of the social pyramid.
After taking notes, choose one of the groups of people that is of interest to you and write
about what daily life would have been like for you in ancient Egypt. Your entry must be at
least 2 paragraphs (paragraphs needs to be at least 10 sentences long, typed, double
spaced, 12 point font). Write as if you were telling someone about your own life in Egypt
over the course of one day. You can be a pharaoh, king or queen, god, priest, worker,
soldier, merchant, slave, or visitor. Research the clothing, hairstyle, makeup, etc. to make a
costume and transform yourself into the person you’ve chosen to represent in ancient
Egypt. Be as authentic as possible, be creative and have fun! You will need to dress up like
the person you’ve chosen to write about and share what you learned with your group. You
won’t be reading your entire report, so be prepared to share key points about life in ancient
Egypt.

Art was found on the walls of temples, palaces, and tombs in ancient Egypt. Research art
and pottery techniques / styles of ancient Egypt. What kinds of “art” and pottery and what
kinds of materials did they use to create these art forms? Write two paragraphs about
what you learned about the art and pottery styles for the ancient Egyptians (paragraphs
need to be ten sentences long, typed, double spaced, 12 point font). Next, create either a

about pyramids in ancient Egypt: who had them made, importance, materials used,
location, design, who did the labor, etc. (paragraphs need to be at least 10 sentences long,
typed, double spaced, 12 point font). Make a three dimensional pyramid using materials
that make your pyramid look authentic. The pyramid does not need to be enormous, but
large enough to show details. Show the construction of the inside of the pyramid as well.
To show the interior of the pyramid, you can either draw a diagram that shows what the
inside of your pyramid looks like or you can choose to do a “cut away” version and include
this as part of your 3D pyramid if you’d like. Either way, the outside and inside construction
and decoration of the pyramid needs to be shown. You will share key information you
learned about pyramids with your group and share your pyramid (inside and outside) with
your group.

people at the various levels of the social pyramid. Write two paragraphs about the
information you learned about the food people at the various levels of the social pyramid
(paragraphs need to be at least 10 sentences, typed, double spaced, 12 point font). Look
online or in books for ancient Egyptian recipes. Choose one recipe and share the recipe
with your teacher first before you make it to make sure it will be ok for the project. If you

along with bread. You will share key information about ancient Egyptian food along with
the food item you made with your group. Remember to bring any plates, napkins, utensils
needed for your item.

chamber inside a shoebox. Include the mummy inside its sarcophagus as well as
any items the mummy will need in the afterlife. All the inner and outer walls of the
tomb should be covered.
Hieroglyphics & Alphabet book

and what ancient Egyptians used to write with / write on. Write a paragraph about what
you learned about the writing system of the ancient Egyptians. Next, research what kind of
writing is used today in Egypt and what the main / primary language is spoken in Egypt
today. Write a paragraph on what you learn. Next, write the first name of TEN of your SS
classmates in hieroglyphics on a sheet of paper. Be sure to use the ancient Egyptian
hieroglyphic symbols and remember to be as neat as you can. On a separate piece of
paper, give the “code,” so that your teacher knows who is who. Create an alphabet book

from what you learned with your group as well as share the TEN hieroglyphic names with
your group as well as your ancient Egyptian alphabet book.
