Anthropology is the study of human nature, culture, society, and history. The purpose of the
course is to introduce students to the discipline of anthropology, its way of thinking and its research
methods. It will survey the development of the field as a modern science and its place in the social
sciences. The course consists of lectures, films, and discussions about different forms of human
organization, lifestyles and practices throughout the world.
