Welcome & Review of Agenda Meeting was called to order at 9:35 AM by chair M Malinowski Introductions and welcome to guests and new members, with review of ICCAT II. Approval of Minutes of September 10, 2013 (FF/NB) III. General Public Comment Period No comments from the public IV. Membership New members K. Gulje, F. Bednersh & T Thompson were welcomed Guests L. Penk & E De Leon are not able to commit as members at this time, but would like to be included in ICCAT communications V. Distribution of IFSP/IEP Participation & Recruitment Letters K Gulje will give Joyce IEP chair contacts Joyce will send out a mailing in addition to email and needs mailing addresses Will report back response at next meeting to determine need for follow up calls The following should be added to the distribution list: Kirsten Escovedos (SB City College), SELPA, Paulina Gluck (TCRC) Joyce will include ICCAT schedule in mailings and will send out to ICCAT list as well VI. Action Plan Review/Goals for Next Year Action Plan was completed – see attached VII. CCPC Retreat Operating under the authority of the Santa Barbara Board of Supervisors and Santa Barbara County Education Office VIII. F Furuike summarized the retreat ICCAT was introduced to potential members Agenda included problem solving in groups to find resources for families Data Collection Argelia distributed info on monthly referrals IX. Referral Chart Chart was reviewed It was recommended that chart and other ICCAT resources be distributed at community forum X. ESP/ICCAT Community Forum A sub-committee will be formed to develop protocols and a community forum Marya will forward date when meeting is set XI. Other Business Discussion took place regarding IFSP/IEP participation and issues a) Guests shared their experiences with IFSP/IEP participation b) Concerns were shared that the system is changing every year and it is difficult to assist families with navigation c) SB city will be taking over preschool special ed services in the next 2-5 years (not severe disabilities) d) Recommendation was made for more family participation as parents have a more powerful voice than professionals e) Florene confirmed that the law requires participation of the preschool teacher in the IEP Universal Referral Form was reviewed a) Nanette shared background b) It was decided that the form should be placed on the website – Nanette will make a recommendation of where XII.
