A $50,000 donation from the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians has been used to pay for firefighting equipment required to outfit the Santa Barbara City Fire Department’s new ladder truck, the tribe’s charitable group announced On Tuesday, Santa Barbara City Fire Chief Andrew DiMizio and Fire Battalion Chief James Bryden unveiled 79 pieces of equipment, including rope rescue gear, prying tools, harnesses, gas monitors, extinguishers and power saws bought with the grant from the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians Foundation, which is governed by the tribe’s business committee. Tribal Chairman Vincent Armenta and Business Committee members David Dominguez, Richard Gomez, Kenneth Kahn and Gary Pace attended the event at Station 1 on West Carrillo Street.
