Sra. Anderson's Classroom Procedures
ID Badges:
You must have YOUR ID badge around your neck as you enter the classroom. Students without ID badges must go
to attendance and get a temporary. If you wear someone else’s badge, then you will be disciplined for the
infraction.
Tardy Policy:
Anyone who enters the classroom after the tardy bell begins to ring is considered to be tardy. If you are tardy for
class, you must get an admit from Attendance. No one will be let in without a admit slip. If you need to finish a
test, then your teacher must call me and let me know you are taking a test so I do not mark you as skipped.
Attendance:
Attendance is an expected part of this course. We will work every single day. Please do not ever ask if we are doing
anything on a certain day because the answer is always ABSOLUTELY! If you must miss class, then you need to be
aware of the make-up policy.
Make-up Work:
If you missed school and have an admit, it must be shown to me before the tardy bell rings. All homework is due
even if you missed the lesson. Get the notes from someone else. For example, if you miss a Tuesday, then when you
return Wednesday, you must have Monday’s homework and Tuesdays’ homework. Not having Tuesday’s homework
will give you a zero.
Anyone missing a test with an excused absence will take a make-up version of the test and a 0 will be recorded until
the test is taken and graded. I reserve the right to use the 9-weeks or semester exam grade instead of giving a
make-up test.
Respect:
The success of every student in this class depends on the attitudes of the teacher and the individual students in
the class. In order for us to meet our goals, we will have to work together. You should not only strive for your
goals, but the goals of your group. If we can be concerned with the learning of others as well, then every student
will succeed. Here are some examples of ways we can succeed as a class:
 Call your classmates if they miss class.
 Meet with other students to study for tests.
 Come to tutoring.
 Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
 Be respectful. Don’t talk while the teacher is talking and don’t talk while students are talking.
 Do not spend class time acting out.
 Pay attention to directions and participate actively in each lesson.
Vocabulary and Note Cards:
We cover an enormous amount of vocabulary in both Spanish I and Spanish II classes; it is an integral part of the
study of a foreign language. You are required to copy vocabulary from the board into your notebooks, making what
we call a "master list" of each lesson. Note cards should be made on each word, English on one side and Spanish on
the other. Cards may be cut in half to cover more vocabulary so that they will "go farther!" Note cards are always
assigned to follow up the master list and are much of what constitutes your homework average. So be ready and
willing to learn how to master all vocabulary with this very practical approach. It works for all who see the process
through!
Grammar and Note-taking:
Concepts of Spanish grammar are also emphasized in both courses. Notes are essential, so come to class with your
notebooks and be ready to ask questions of what you do not understand! You are required to take notes in this
class. I would encourage you to use colored ink/markers/pencils and highlighters to make certain things stand out
in your notes. You may choose to recopy your notes. That is a great way to study!
Vocabulary Quizzes:
I often pop a vocabulary quiz on students unannounced, but only after ample time has been allowed for you to study
repetitively for the latest list. These quizzes serve in ratio as bonus points to be applied to the test-yet-to-come
of the same material. Just a wake-up call!!
Cheating:
It is unfortunate that I even have to address this, but it is time to define cheating as I see it, a most selfdegrading offense!
Examples of cheating include (but are not limited to):
 Talking during a test
 Copying homework
 Letting someone copy your homework
 Passing someone else’s work off as your own
 Having someone else complete an assignment for you
 Texting the answers to an assignment or test
 Using your cell phone in class
 Discussing a test or quiz with students who have not taken it
 Using notes or other aides during a test or quiz
Homework:
You are expected to do all your homework assignments. Any student missing more than 3
homework assignments in a 9-weeks will not be recommended for Renaissance that 9 weeks.
Each homework assignment should be kept in your 3-ring binder. I will check homework at the
beginning of class, worth a possible 5,10, or 20 points per assignmnent.
Please attempt every assignment! YOU HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE 100% ON
HOMEWORK AVERAGE; IT IS CHECKED FOR COMPLETION ONLY!
Tutoring:
I will be available after school Monday – Thursday for help, from 2:45-3:15. Please make
arrangements with me in advance if you need help. If for some reason you need to stay after on
a Friday, please let me know in advance and I will make arrangements to stay on Friday as well.
Projects:
You will have projects throughout the year. It is imperative that you take these projects
seriously! I promise you that the more of yourself you put into these projects, the more you will
get out of them....and the more fun you will have! Several test score credits will be attached to
each project! So be READY TO ROLL!
Cell Phones and MP3 Players (iPods)
Cell phones are not allowed at school. If I see or hear a student’s cell phone or mp3 player, it
will be picked up. Failure to turn over the device, when asked, will be viewed as challenging
authority and strong disciplinary action will be taken.
