Master Thesis Project at CEVT
Title:
Artificial Sound on Electrical Vehicle
CEVT
China-Euro Vehicle Technology CEVT is a joint engineering and development center for future B- and Csegment cars, addressing the needs of both Volvo Cars and Geely Auto.
Background
The Propulsion unit is part of CEVT is responsible for the development of new transmissions for Geely Group as well
as development of Hybrid and Electric Propulsion systems including all high voltage components
Today’s PHEV: s and EV: s makes less sound then traditional engine based cars. No engine sound do create issues for
pedestrian due to it is difficult to hear the vehicle when it approaches. That’s why it is important to create and artificial
engine sound to improve the detection of the car when it is driving on the road especially in lower speed
Scope
The objective of this thesis project is to develop conditions for artificial sound in electrical vehicles and to
optimize the signals for maximum pedestrian and cyclist safety with minimal environmental noise and
annoyance

CEVT is a joint engineering and development centre for future C-segment cars,
addressing the needs of both Volvo Cars and Geely Auto. CEVT covers vital aspects
of passenger car development – from the joint architecture, to power train and drive
line components, to top hat engineering as well as the vehicles’ exterior design.
The modular strategy will deliver on the premium aspects that Volvo Cars requires,
as well as on Geely Auto’s demands, in order to compete in the automotive market.
