Quintiles Global Cytometry Group in Edinburgh is seeking an experienced Flow Cytometrist to support our continued growth in this area. This role will provide technical support of flow cytometry for quality control and training through competency and proficiency assessment. This role within the Global Cytometry Group will interface between the Assay Development Laboratory and Clinical Laboratory and will require close coordination with Global Harmonization. The successful candidate will become a key member of a newly established Global Cytometry Group and may be expected to participate in other areas as the team expands. Responsibilities: Manages the internal proficiency testing scheme for flow cytometry, to include review of results, training and completion of associated documentation on a biannual cycle. Designs, coordinates and implements internal additional proficiency schemes where wet sample analysis is required. Works closely with the Assay Development Laboratory to understand the expected assay performance during the active testing phase of the Clinical Laboratory. Works with Flow Cytometry Analysts to identify areas requiring additional support or training. Provides technical expertise and support for the Clinical Laboratory in the generation of quality control data. Liaises with Global Harmonization to set acceptance ranges for all flow cytometry panels and reviews all quality control change requests from the Clinical Laboratory. Produces quality control materials such as PBMCs or cell lines where commercial products are not available. Responsible for supply of these materials to global laboratories. Works with the Global Cytometry Group, Laboratory Managers and Laboratory Scientists to identify processes in the laboratory that can be better optimized to make the laboratory more efficient. Minimum Required Education and experience: Bachelor’s degree or educational equivalent in Immunology and relevant experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. The candidate must have extensive practical experience of Flow Cytometry, with knowledge of BD Biosciences instrumentation preferred. In depth knowledge of flow cytometry testing procedures, software, and applicable laboratory testing regulations. Working knowledge of quality assurance and quality control principles and in depth knowledge of company-specific program requirements. The candidate will have excellent problem solving capabilities, oral and written communication skills. Enthusiasm and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are crucial for this post.
