Job Title: Senior Associate Position Summary and Key Responsibilities A temporary senior associate position is available at Amgen at its Cambridge site in Massachusetts. Our Analytical Cytometry facility is a shared resource equipped with one cell sorter (Aria SORP) and one analyzer (LSRII). The successful candidate will be responsible for day to day instrument calibration, operation, maintenance, sample acquisition and/or sorting, data analysis, data management and backup, basic laboratory duties, and routine maintenance and trouble shooting of equipment. The successful candidate will also keep accurate records of experiments that are run in the facility. Also, the successful candidate will be involved in training of new investigators on basic flow cytometry theory, operation of the analytical instrumentation, and utilization of various flow cytometry software programs (Diva, Flowjo). The successful candidate will understand and stay current with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as needed, and perform SOP qualifications. The successful candidate will perform other duties (sample processing, staining and RNA preparation) as assigned. The successful candidate must be able to work a somewhat flexible schedule to meet the needs of the facility. Minimum Education and Skills Required for Consideration: • Bachelor degree in a Biological Science or related field • Minimum 4 years Flow Cytometry experience with a focus on high-speed cell sorting • Technical expertise with high-speed cell sorters (ARIA II, 4 lasers) and analyzers used in Flow Cytometry (5 lasers, 13 parameters) • Basic PC skills and the ability to learn new technologies • Ability to work well with others • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills • Good presentation skills • Ability to work flexible hours • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, dependable, and able to fulfill a service role in a busy core facility • Attention to details and capability of following SOPs Preferred Qualifications: Advanced knowledge of basic laboratory techniques such as: • Preparation of primary cells from (mouse and human) blood, lymph nodes and spleen • Preparation of cells for phenotyping • RNA extraction and quality control Please send your CV to: dcipolle@amgen.com
