Tennis Parent Meeting- 2013 Practices- 2:30-4:00 (will be posted on the schedule) Varsity B/G practice Mon./ Thurs JV B/G practice Wed/ Fri *All players will come to the first day of practice- Wednesday Feb 20th. They will get their practice days assigned that day (or before - posted on the website. I need enrollment forms asap so I know who’s playing) *When a dual or tournament is scheduled on a practice day, this will replace the practice. Schedule - On the tennis website, click on the event for more information We are hosting conference (HS & MS courts)- volunteers to work concessions? This will be our only fundraiser. Announcements made through tennis website, newsflash, email and FB Like us on FB- Deer Creek MS Tennis- announcements, email me if you don’t want your kids pic on there. Info flyers for tournaments (location, transportation plans, etc) will be posted on the “printable documents” page before the tournament. Tournament transportation: One school suburban driven by Mrs. Souter (holds 7 players). If both boys and girls are going on the same day, help with transportation would be apperciated. I can get another teacher/ coach to drive and attend but this costs the tennis team ( additional sub fees and pay for the driver). Players can ride with their parents or other parents to and from the matches, as long as I know ahead of time. Away Duals after school: Transportation provided to the dual, it would be helpful if players could get pick up from the location by parents. Home Duals- start after school. Who plays will depend on the roster of the other team. We try to match up our players by ability/ experience. Players will know the day before the dual (or earlier) if they are playing. If your child can not play or needs to be played early, just let me know. Duals are flexible. Bring to practice: Racquet (I have a few that can be borrowed if they forget theirs- not great quality) Sunglasses (can be left on the cart) Water bottle (can be left on the cart) sunscreen tennis shoes/ shorts/t-shirt- any non-marking sole athletic shoe is fine (running shoes, etc). Court shoes will offer more support, but are not required. Expenses: (where your money goes) Tournament entry fees (approx. $480) Mustang tournament (MHS courts) CCS Open (OTC) Heritage Hall (HH & Casady courts) Guthrie (Kickingbird) Suburban Conference Substitute (5 days @ $78/day) = $390 T-shirts ($300) Balls ($150) Other possible expenses - bus driver, asst. coach for conference *Those going to tournaments might be asked to pay additional fees later in the season to cover tournament entry fees ($10/ player per tournament max.) Additional needs: Mr. Edwards and I are looking into having someone build backboard for the tennis courts. If you know of anyone in the construction field who would like to become an official (and well advertised) sponsor of the tennis team, or someone who would like to help with the funding of the materials, I have the construction plans.
