The United Parish Tennis Tournament is back for a third year, and we really hope that you are able to
take part again. It is a lovely community event, bringing together old and new friends from all the
parish villages, whilst raising money for the United Parish Fund at the same time. The event is now
open for entries and we would appreciate you completing the attached form, in order for us to allocate
courts and make the necessary arrangements.
Please return it, with your entrance fee, to Vicki Lyon Taylor by Friday 21st August. Don’t be put off
by us asking your standard; this will once again be a very friendly, fun day of sociable tennis, but we
are keen to mix up abilities, and this will just give us a general idea of how much you’ve played!
There’s no need to find a partner in advance; everyone enters as an individual and you will play a
number of short mixed doubles matches with various players on your court.
You will receive final details a week before the event to confirm the court you will be playing on,
contact details of the host or coordinator of your group and names of all those others playing with you.
Players and their supporters will be invited to arrive around 9.30am, armed with picnic rugs, chairs,
food and drink (to be coordinated amongst the group), with play beginning at 10am. By 2.30pm, all
matches will be completed, ready for everyone to move to the parish court at Puttenham for the 3pm
finals, tea and prize giving. We also hope there will be a short coaching session again for any young
children coming to support.
Obviously we expect glorious sunshine on the day! Should the weather be mixed, we will continue
with the tournament as we know the parish-folk are a hardy bunch. However, if the wind is howling
and the rain unstoppable, we have ear-marked Saturday 10th October as a back-up date.

As well as a social event, the tournament will help to fundraise for the United Parish Fund. We
would be grateful if you could enclose a cheque made payable to SPW PCC, at £15 per person.
Please be aware that neither the organisers, nor owners of private courts, will be held responsible
for any accident or injury that occurs on and around any of the tennis courts, or for the loss of any
personal belongings on the day.
