HAROLD T. BRANCH ACADEMY DRESS CODE GUIDELINES 2013-2014 We are committed to educating our students in the safest environment possible in order to enhance the instructional setting, to promote school pride and to ensure student success. Students enrolled at Harold T. Branch Academy shall adhere to the following guidelines in their dress and grooming. Those who violate the dress code will be required to have parents bring appropriate attire. Students who persistently violate dress and grooming standards may be subject to other disciplinary action, as specified in the Student Code of Conduct. PANTS/JEANS/SHORTS/SKIRTS APPROVED Pants: Straight legged, tailored, carpenter, cargo, capri, cropped, flared boot cut, slightly bell-bottom NOT APPROVED Sagging, oversized, striped, wide-legged, bleached, tie-dyed, torn, pajama, oversized pockets, stretch or tight fitting (e.g. Bicycle pants or spandex) Beach wear, boxers Shorts: Shorts must be worn at the knee. Skirts: Hemlines and splits will not exceed 2 inches above the knee. All must be worn at the waist. SHIRTS APPROVED Short or long sleeved, button down, t-shirts, or polo style shirts. Pullover sweatshirts, sweatshirts with hoods, pullover sweaters. NOT APPROVED Low cut, sleeveless, muscle, tank, strapless, halter, off the shoulder, spaghetti straps, baggy, oversized, exposure of the midriff or undergarments, revealing, displaying vulgar, obscene, unpatriotic, tobacco, alcoholic beverages, drugs, violence, culturally biased, gang related, satanic or sexually suggestive. OUTERWEAR APPROVED Sweaters/Windbreakers Winter Headgear Jackets and Coats NOT APPROVED Hoods cannot be worn inside the classrooms. Hats, caps, and/or head cover may not be worn inside the classrooms. Trench Coats/Dusters are not allowed. OTHER APPARREL/ACCESSORIES Footwear: Appropriate footwear must be worn. Flip-flops are discouraged due to safety concerns. Steel toe boots, house shoes, slippers Excessive or oversized jewelry (no larger than 2 inches). Distracting hairstyles, hair coloring, body piercings, and tattoos NOTE: In addition to the regulations listed above, dress and grooming that in the administrator’s judgment would disrupt the educational process will not be allowed. The administration reserves the right to use discretion in all dress code matters.
