Bait Al Shamsi

Join in, take part and collaborate as individuals, families, friends – as a community, together in do it يبرعلاب [in Arabic] – a new project organised by Sharjah Art

Foundation. More than 60 artists from across the region have written instructions that anyone can use to make a new work of art.

Co-curated by Sharjah Art Foundation Director Hoor Al Qasimi and Serpentine Gallery co-

Director Hans Ulrich Obrist, do it يبرعلاب is a new iteration of the ongoing do it publication and exhibition project originally founded and curated by Obrist in 1993. do it يبرعلاب will be open to the public at Sharjah Art Foundation's Bait Al Shamsi from 23

January to 23 April 2016. On view will be a selection of artist instructions, some of which will have been previously realised and others which visitors can use to create art works of their own. Everyone is invited to join in the workshops, activations, performances and thoughtprovoking activities on one of the many Open Days, scheduled over the course of the

exhibition.

The do it يبرعلاب bilingual publication will include over 50 newly commissioned artist instructions, a selection of previously published instructions as well as essays that contextualise the project.

This publication will also be the basis for a series of do it يبرعلاب exhibitions and events with institutions across the region, including Townhouse, Cairo, Al Riwaq, Manama, Darat Al

Funun, Amman, Dar AlMa'Mûn, Marrakech, as well as with partners in Lebanon, Kuwait,

Palestine, Saudi Arabia and Sudan. These events are scheduled to take place in 2016 and
