Barbara Lay Lay Consulting Barbara Lay is president and founder of Lay Consulting, a niche firm that works with clients to enhance the leadership capability of senior executives and rising stars through executive coaching, group facilitation and designing custom executive education and development programs. Executive coaching services include leadership and organizational assessments that provide critical insights and deeper understanding along with strategies that address the assessment data to achieve clients’ desired outcomes. In addition to her consulting practice, Barbara is Associate Director of Outreach for the Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship, College of Business, at Florida State University. In this position, she provides executive coaching and management consulting to business owners throughout Florida, focused on helping them run their businesses more profitably and improve their overall performance. Clients include multinational corporations Motorola, Ford Motor Co. and Suzlon Wind Energy as well as privately held companies in product design and manufacturing, regional banking, high technology and health care. Before opening her consulting practice in 2005, Barbara spent more than 15 years working at Motorola headquarters in Chicago and at Standard Chartered Bank, a London-based bank, for which she was based in Hong Kong and Singapore. Her positions ranged from director of a technology center to heading up leadership and management development organizations. Barbara’s experience has given her a unique perspective in understanding clients’ needs, situations and opportunities for improvement in today’s global environment. Prior to her corporate experience, Barbara owned Vintage Tiles Arts Studio for more than six years, where she designed and manufactured jewelry and created a range of custom art pieces. Barbara holds a Masters in Instructional Systems Design from Florida State University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Florida. She holds professional certification in the Myers Briggs Type Indicator and is experienced in administering a range of assessments including 360 assessments.
