GENERAL COSTUME GUIDELINES:
 PLEASE DO NOT WEAR YOUR COSTUME UNTIL SHOWTIME!!!
 When arriving at the school, either cover up your costume with a large t-shirt or change when you get to the school
 Put your name or initials on ALL costume pieces, shoes, and tights
 Please….no visible bra straps or underwear! Straps and underwear lines are tacky on stage!
YOUR COSTUME BAG INCLUDES & YOU SHOULD WEAR:
 Royal blue/purple tunic with sequin detail
o Adjust royal blue straps to fit body snugly- you do not want them falling down the shoulders
 Light pink booty shorts
 Royal blue fabric strip- DO NOT WEAR!!!
 Tan footed tights (can purchase at studio)
 Tan jazz shoes (can purchase at studio)
FOR THE HAIR:
 Style: low center bun with a part over the right eye. Use a flat iron if necessary to make your hair super smooth- slick back
all fly-away hairs with gel/hairspray.
 Please do your best to have uniform hair throughout your group. This improves the overall professionalism of the team.
We ask that you DO NOT wear false hairpieces at the recitals.
 If you require barrettes, bobby pins, etc., to hold your hair in place, be sure to purchase the ones that match your hair
color- do not wear anything that will stand out!
FOR THE MAKEUP:
Makeup is intended to allow the audience to see dancers’ faces better when they are on stage. Makeup is merely suggested to
allow each dancer to feel extra special, & it helps the audience see facial expressions more clearly. All female students can wear
makeup for each performance. We suggest natural makeup that is applied a bit heavier than usual. Remember, that when the
whole group looks the same, the show appears very professional. Please apply the following for show time:
o Red lipstick
o Pink blush
o Gray/brown toned eyeshadows
o Mascara & eyeliner- older students can wear false eyelashes if they wish
o Please…..no body glitter, eye glitter, or rhinestones on the eyes!!!
BRING TO REHEARSALS & SHOWS:
*Remember, you will spend most of your time in the dressing areas, so plan ahead & make sure your children are occupied
backstage. In the past, a few moms from each dance class have put together small craft activities for the dancers to partake in while
waiting for their performance.
 Games & activities to occupy dancers while they wait for their turn on stage
 Baby wipes/Shout wipes to fix makeup mistakes, wash hands, or erase makeup from costumes
 Baby powder for itchy costumes
 Safety pins for emergency costume repairs
 Bobby pins, hairbands, barrettes, & hair accessories (that match your hair color, please)
 Hairspray, brush, & comb
 Clear nail polish to repair minor holes or runs in tights
 Bands aids (the “invisible” kind)
DON’T FORGET!!! The week of June 8th-13th, we will have DRESS REHEARSAL WEEK at the studio. Each dancer should
wear their costume, accessories, tights, dance shoes, & hairstyle for the stage to class. We invite all parents into each
class (at the end) to videotape & take group photos of your children. It is a very helpful week for the dancers,
parents, & teachers! Thank you- we can’t wait to see everyone!
