Zone Swimming Carnival
On Wednesday 5th of March 2013, the Zone Swimming Carnival
took place at the Blacktown Aquatic Centre. Quakers Hill Public
School swimmers attended and competed against schools such
as Marayong Public School, Blacktown South Public School and
Shelley Public School. The carnival was organised by Mr Pugh
and other teachers that attended were timing the swimmers,
taking photos or recording the times of the swimmers. Quakers
Hill Public School had around 20 students representing the
school. The main pool was 50 metres long which is about twice
the size of the lane pool in Stanhope.
The outdoor temperature was about 24 degrees, but inside it
wasn’t as warm. Competitors took their marks in 8 lanes and swam
across the cool pool. There was an electric atmosphere around the
pool as heaps of parents and families came to encourage their kids
in their race.
Mr Pugh has seen the amazing abilities the swimmers have. They
were really confident in swimming and they were hoping to come
as one of the first three to finish. Mr Pugh was happy with the
sportsmanship shown by the Quakers Hill competitors.
Michaela talked to Vivian Steel who competed in the zone
swimming carnival. Vivian reported that Quakers Hill Public School
came in to the top 3 against the other schools who were there.
Vivian tried her best, which is all that matters.
Mr Pugh was happy that everyone who attended the carnival tried
their best but two of the people who stood out were Chloe and Ashleigh, as they are two of the strongest
swimmers from QHPS.
The students that represented Quakers Hill Public School were proud of their great achievement in
swimming. It is wonderful to see students trying their best in everything they do.
