School Swim Scheme.
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Year 2 will be going on a daily excursion to Hornsby Aquatic Centre Pool from Monday 7th September to Friday 18th
September.
Students will be leaving Wideview Public School daily at 11:15AM. Students will return to Wideview Public School at
approximately 1:30PM
Mode of transport is by Bus
Cost: $ 95.00
This cost includes pool entry, bus travel and a swim cap (which must be worn at all times in the pool).
The group will be supervised by Mr. Coleman and Mrs. Hodges.

This excursion has the approval of the Principal.

SCHOOL SWIMMING SCHEME
Message to Parents
The Department of Education and Training School Swimming Scheme is an intensive learn to swim
program, which develops water confidence and provides students with basic skills in water safety and
survival. Year 2 at Wideview have the opportunity to attend this scheme in Term 3. The scheme caters
for all levels of swimmers and non-swimmers.
The Scheme is conducted over ten days. Each daily lesson is 40 minutes of in-pool instruction plus
an additional 5 minute water safety theory lesson, which will take place before each lesson.
Instruction will take place at Hornsby Aquatic Centre.
Children will catch the bus daily to and from Hornsby Aquatic Centre.
The Scheme will continue daily for 10 days during week 8 & 9 of Term 3 (Monday 7th to Friday 18th
September 2015).
The total cost for the 10 day scheme is $95.00. Payment is required on or before Monday the 31st
August 2015. There are only 60 positions available this year and 67 students. The first 60 paid
students will receive a position in the scheme.
This covers the cost of transport, a swimming cap and pool entry. There will be no charge for the Swim
School Instructors.
Daily Arrangements:

Each child should wear their swimmers underneath their winter school uniform. Girls can wear
their one-piece swimming costume rolled down at the waist to make toileting easier (please
ensure underwear is brought with them to change into after swimming)

Each child should bring 2 towels and a plastic bag for wet swimmers.

Rash shirts are optional. Goggles are optional. Please note students will be assessed during the
School Swimming Scheme for all water safety skills without wearing goggles.

Each child should be able to get themselves dressed promptly- including tying their own
shoe laces.

Each and every piece of clothing and equipment should be labelled.

Children will board the bus at 11:15

Children will be taking part in a swimming lesson from 12:00 – 12:45

Children will arrive back at school at 1:30
