Self-Cleaning Filter 1. 2. General Information a. Provide self-cleaning filter as per the specification. b. Self-cleaning filter shall be comprised of components as outlined in this specification in order to meet the hydraulic demands and requirements of the irrigation system it services. Self-Cleaning Filter a. Self-cleaning filter specifications include but are not limited to: 1) Filter shall consist of a filter body with inlet, outlet, and access nozzle connections. a) Filter body shall be constructed from stainless steel 304L or better. 2) Filter shall feature a parallel flange configuration to accommodate simple 3) installation and maintenance. Filter shall utilize a two-stage screening process consisting of both coarse screen and fine screen filtration. System shall be capable of filtering suspended solids from a water source. a) Coarse screen shall be constructed from stainless steel 304L, and offer 2.7 square feet of total screen area. It shall have 1/4 inch perforations, and shall protect the fine screen from large particles in the water source. b) Fine screen shall be constructed from stainless steel 316L or better, and consist of multiple layers of wire mesh diffusion bonded (sintered) to a perforated reinforcement plate. c) Fine screen shall consist of a rigid cylinder offering x.xx’ (see product Tech Spec chart) square feet of total screen area. d) Fine screen shall filter to xxx micron. 4) Filter shall be furnished with a particle remover capable of scanning the interior of the screen element and removing buildup. 5) Vacuumed debris from particle remover shall be expelled via flush valve. a) Flush valve shall be an electrically actuated 1.5 inch (A, B, & C b) 6) Models) OR 2 inch (D, E, F ,G, & H Models) ball valve. Valve shall have an open/close time of 1.5 seconds, and operate with an input voltage of 24 VAC. Valve shall have a stainless steel CF8M ball and housing, with a stainless steel 316 stem. Electronic backwash controller shall monitor and activate cleaning cycles. Controller shall be capable of activating a backwash cycle by each of the following: periodic timer, differential pressure, and manual activation. c) 7) Controller shall be mounted in a 9.5 x 7.8 x 4 inch weather resistant enclosure, and operate on 115 or 230 VAC. d) Output voltage shall be 24 VAC or 12 VDC. e) Output terminals shall include C (common), 1, 2, M (master), and A (alarm). f) Controller shall include a display monitor to indicate controller status and display the backwash count. Internal components including the particle remover and compression packing shall be constructed from stainless steel 304L or better. 8) Pressure rating shall be 150 PSI or greater with a temperature rating of 200 degrees Fahrenheit or more. 9) Overall body length shall be xx (see product drawings for length) inches, and overall body height shall be xx (see product drawings for height) inches, with a shell diameter of xx (see product drawings for diameter) inches. The body shall have x” inlet and outlet flanges with a spacing of xx (see product drawings for spacing) inches. 1/4 inch FNPT threaded connections shall be located on the nozzles for instrument measurement. 10) (Optional filter assembly, remove this section when specifying filter without assembly) Filter package shall include a factory assembled filter assembly specifically designed for filter. Assembly to include bypass plumbing and valves. a) Bypass pipe and fittings shall meet ASTM A-53 Grade B steel pipe specifications. Flanges shall be ANSI 150 psi-rated. Pipe shall be schedule 40 or heavier. b) Manifold shall be polyester coated carbon steel sized not to exceed a speed of 8.5 FPS based on full flow. c) Threaded-type fittings welded into the piping shall be rated at more than 150 PSIG working pressure. d) Manifold connections shall be flanged.
