ASSOCIATION OF BOOK PUBLISHERS OF BC Professional Development Seminar Wednesday, October 31st, 2012 1:30 PM Simon Fraser University, 515 West Hastings Street, Room TBA Master Google Analytics: A 1-Hour Workshop Collecting data is easy, knowing what to do with it is the hard part. Google Analytics is an important tool for gathering data about everything that's happening online with your business, from lead generation through purchase to customer satisfaction. But going beyond the basic reporting interface can be quite the learning curve. Although it is simple to create a Google Analytics account and install the tracking code, many users are overwhelmed by the data and the extra effort necessary to really master the software. This 1-hour workshop will reveal the best practices you can follow to maximize the capabilities of Google Analytics and focus on the most actionable metrics. Attendees will learn: 1. How to identify the best metrics for small, medium and large publishers 2. What are filters and segments, and how are they best used 2. How to create dashboards and determine the high-level metrics for your organization 3. Why Goals and Event Tracking are important and what data insights can be identified 4. Advanced tips for using the report interface, and 5. Which reports to track and when In advance of the sessions, attendees should ensure they have admin access to their Google Analytics account and some familiarity with the basic reports. Sample data will be used in the demonstration and step-by-step instructions will be provided for the setup of key reports.
