Dear Parents
On Monday, 9th February we will be visiting Windsor Castle as part of our History, DT and
Literacy unit. The trip will focus on the construction and history of the castle, as well as
provide ample inspiration for our Traditional and Fairy Tales Literacy unit. We will be
travelling by coach to the castle; please can you ensure your child is in on time as we will be
leaving the school promptly at 9.30am, we hope to return to school for the end of the school
day. Children will not need to bring in their book bags or any backpacks into school as the
children will not be carrying anything around the castle. We will also not be visiting the gift
shop, so no money will need to be provided. Children should come in their school uniform
as usual and bring a suitable coat, dependent on the weather.
As part of the new Universal Free School Meals policy, we are able to provide all children
with a free packed lunch. Please complete the slip overleaf ticking the choice of sandwich
required. If however, you wish to provide your child with a packed lunch from home, please
can all items of food be in disposable wrapping (including drinking bottles – school water
bottles will be difficult to carry) so we can dispose of the rubbish after lunch. Packed lunches
should be sent into school in a named carrier bag which can also be disposed of after lunch.
The cost of the school trip is a voluntary contribution of £ 8.50 which includes the cost of the
trip and entry to the Castle. If you have any questions regarding the cost of the trip, please
contact me or Mrs Kirk, the School Business Manager as soon as possible. We reserve the
right to cancel trip if we do not receive sufficient voluntary contributions.
Thank you to all of the parents who have kindly offered to help on the trip, however we have
sufficient helpers this time.
Please would you complete both slips overleaf and return to me by Friday, 16th January at
the latest.
