As every home and business owner can tell you, the prices for utilities and maintenance on their
property keeps increasing. We at the Cranston Historical Society know this only too well as we
strive to maintain our two historical buildings. Imagine heating the 28 high ceiling rooms of the
Sprague Mansion or the eight rooms of the Joy Homestead built long before insulation.
In order to be able to continue our school education programs and our efforts to promote and
preserve Cranston’s history, we are trying to boost our income in two ways. The first is to
increase the frequency of rentals of our properties. Enclosed is a flyer describing our two
properties which are available to the public for rental. For more information, please call our

Our second approach is to institute a new membership category. We invite you to become a
business member of the Cranston Historical Society. This membership, available in five levels,
will provide valuable benefits to your organization. The clubs are named for five of the
prominent industrialists who once lived in our properties.

All business members, regardless of the level, will be listed in our monthly newsletter which is
distributed to all our members as well as the public libraries and other historical societies.
