AP Physics Unit 1 Constant Velocity Particle Model Constant Velocity Particle Model Lab Report Your typed lab report should include: Header and Title: Your Name, the names of your lab partners and the title of the experiment Purpose: One to two sentences explaining the reason for this lab. Data and Observations: Numerical data obtained during the experiment presented in a table and any observations made during the experiment. If applicable a sketch of the set up. For this lab your sketch will include: how long the track is where the origin is where the two cars will be placed at the start of the race. Analysis and Conclusions: The section summarizes what happened in the experiment. This is where your interpret what your data and results mean. For this lab: Describe the motion of the cars in words. Be as detailed as possible. Include the starting point, the direction of motion, and when the velocity is. Draw a qualitative motion map for both cars using the same position number line. (The may be hand drawn.) Draw a detailed quantitative position time graph on graph paper for both cars on the same set of axes. Show on the position time graph where the cars with collide. Draw a detailed quantitative velocity time graph on graph paper for both cars on the same set of axes. Write the mathematical model for the two different cars. Use the mathematical models to calculate with the cars will collide. Discuss at least two specific mistakes you might have made while conducting the experiment and describe way you will try to avoid these errors in future labs. All pages must be neat, in order, and stapled. Please attach this sheet at the end of your report. (see other side for scoring rubric) AP Physics Unit 1 Constant Velocity Particle Model Lab Report Scoring Rubric Lab reports will be scored based on the following 10-point rubric. Leaving out any portion of your lab report may result in a lower score, so familiarize yourself with this rubric. Score Description Goals exceeded. All sections of lab report are complete; data and observations have been recorded accurately; models have 10 been included and are correct, analysis and conclusion thoroughly discussed in complete sentences. Goals achieved - Advanced Most sections of lab report are complete; data and observations have been recorded 8 accurately; models have been included but some are incorrect; analysis and conclusion discussed in complete sentences. Goals achieved - Proficient Most of the sections of lab report are complete; data and observations have been 6 recorded but are incomplete; models have been included but are incorrect; analysis and conclusion discussed but is incomplete. Goals achieved - Basic Some sections of lab report are complete; data and observations have been recorded but are 4 incomplete; models have been included but are incorrect; analysis and conclusion discussed but is incomplete. Minor attempt made. Most sections of lab report are incomplete; data and observations have been recorded but are 2 incomplete; models have been included but are incorrect or incomplete; analysis and conclusion mostly incomplete. 0 No reasonable attempt made on the assignment.
