Debate Outline (Your debate proposition goes here.) Name________
* Make sure to write out full sentences. This outline should work as a transcript
for your speech.
Requirements:
*Your goal is to write a full-sentence outline. For this speech all
sections, even the sub-points, will be written in full detail in order to
clearly show your ethos/pathos/logos. In at least one point you need
to show that you are arguing against a common argument found in the
opponent’s side.
*A full argument, with at least three fully developed arguments is
necessary. You should have a 4-5 minute speech.
*Remember that transitions should not repeat your arguments, but
should link arguments together. Show the connections between your
arguments.
*Logos: Make sure to support each main point with a diversity of
different reasons/facts/examples. This is the biggest part of your
grade. You need to pull in credible information (facts and evidence
from sources) to support your ideas. Each main point should include
subpoints that have evidence from at least two different sources.
*Pathos: Write your arguments with passion. Use persuasive language
to make your audience FEEL something. Make your facts stand out by
adding personal anecdotes and logic.
*Ethos: Connect to your audience by showing you understand them
and that you are credible. You will especially emphasize this in the
point that you develop against the opposition.
