[Assistant Principal]
Jaffrey-Rindge Middle School

[Jaffrey, New Hampshire 03452]
Dear Mr. Clark,
I am writing to you to apply for the part-time, long-term substitute Spanish teaching position for the
second semester of the 2014-15 school year (listed on Schoolspring.com). I am seeking this position to
gain more experience in a formal middle school education setting—in hopes of eventually acquiring a
full time position in the field. I am pursuing this opportunity because I feel strongly that I can be a
positive asset to your school. I devote myself to ensuring the growth of each of my students within and
outside the classroom. My goals include constantly honing my professional knowledge and skills,
personalizing the learning experience of each child, and fostering a sense of curiosity and inquiry.
I am currently a senior at Pennsylvania State University pursuing a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish
Education as well as an ESL certificate and a minor in Linguistics. Here at Penn State I have completed
various courses relevant to the requirements of this position, such as Second Language Acquisition,
World Language Education and Human Development and Family Studies--Adolescent Development-that have prepared me and assured me that I am fit for this career path. If given the opportunity to join
your staff at Jaffrey-Rindge, I would be eager to share the knowledge I have been provided in my time
working with highly qualified master teachers.
In addition to my coursework at Penn State, I have held enriching and rewarding positions in the
educational field that are listed in my enclosed resume including working as a Title I teaching assistant
in a predominantly Spanish speaking learning environment and acting as a language counselor in a
Spanish Immersion camp. These experiences have only strengthened my resolve to pursue a career in
the education field and influence the lives of young people on a daily basis.
I would appreciate the opportunity to further discuss my skills and how they align directly with this
position. If you have questions or would like to schedule an interview, please contact me by phone at
410-533-6627 or by e-mail at jet5286@psu.edu. I have enclosed my resume for your review. Thank you
in advance for your consideration and for your time. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Jane Truffer
