MCGILL PEDIATRIC SUBSPECIALTY
Please find below the application deadline and requirements for the 2016-2017 Pediatric
Specialty residency programs.
We can accept applicant files by the March 1, 2015 application deadline for a July 1, 2016 start
date for the following programs:
2 year programs: Allergy/Immunology, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Endocrinology and
Metabolism, Gastroenterology, Neonatology, Nephrology, Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics,
Adolescent Medicine, Respirology, Rheumatology and Infectious Diseases.
3 year programs: Cardiology, Hematology-Oncology, Microbiology and Infectious Diseases.
*Please note that only files for the Pediatric Subspecialty programs are being reviewed at this
time.

We ask that all applicants apply on-line and the sponsor forward complete files to our
office by March 1, 2015.

Please note that we are unable to consider incomplete files.

Applications to the programs listed below (whether complete or incomplete) received
after the March 1, 2015 deadline will not be considered for the 2016-2017 academic year.

Only PDF files sent directly to the Postgrad Admissions Office from the sponsor are considered
acceptable. Also, please ensure applicants are aware that all communications (i.e. decisions,
offers, interviews, outstanding documents etc.) will be channeled via your offices, and we will
ensure to refer all applicants to you for any clarification. This applies to all communication from
applicants to our office as well as applicants who contact departments directly.
A complete file consists of the following documents:
a) Copy of the Medical Degree.
b) A copy of the Internship certificate.
c) Three recent letters of reference (reference letters cannot be from relatives and the
sponsor needs to verify validity of the referee).
d) A brief curriculum vitae.
e) A personal statement, which clearly outlines why the applicant wishes to apply to the
program.
f) Proof of having successfully passed the USMLE exams (steps 1 and 2) and/or the
Evaluation Exam of the Medical Council of Canada (MCCEE) and/or copies of
statements of results.
g) Attestations and evaluations of all previous postgraduate training (for applicants
applying from a Medical School in Canada or the United States)
h) A copy of the Specialty Certificate in Pediatrics for applicants who are not presently
training in a Pediatric program in Canada or the United States.
i) Sponsorship Letter: Proof of scholarship granted by the agency concerned and with
whom there is an exchange program in force. All other scholarships will be refused.
