GRADING
DAILY ASSIGNMENTS AND HOMEWORK (40%)
1. Late work: Late assignments that are less then or equal to 2 days late will be
graded and then marked down 50%. Completed assignments handed in after 2
days will be given a zero in the grade book. All late work must be labeled LATE
with the original DATE DUE and handed into the LATE box in order to receive
any credit.
2. Absent work: In the case of an excused absence, you will have one school day for
every day you are gone to make up the work. For example, if you are gone on
Monday, you get your missed assignments on Tuesday, and hand them in on
Wednesday. In the case of an extended absence, each student will be given due
dates depending on the length of their absence. Work missed during an unexcused
absence will not be accepted for credit. All absent work must be labeled ABSENT
with the DATE you were gone and placed in the ABSENT box. If you are absent
on the day of a test, you must speak to me the day you return to set up a time to
make it up.
3. A spiral notebook is required for this class. You must also have a 3 ring binder,
that has a Health section, or similar organization system in place.
TESTS AND QUIZZES (30%)
1. Information will be from class discussion, readings, lectures and videos.
BEHAVIOR AND PARTICIPATION (30%)
1. Contributing to class discussions is crucial to the success of this class. We will
cover some controversial and personal topics and sharing thoughts and experiences
will make the subject matter more meaningful for everyone. Students will receive
checks for participation and will be graded accordingly.
2. Students will lose points when class expectations (see below) are not being
followed and/or behavior is affecting the learning of others.
GRADING SCALE
Your grade will be based on a percentage of points earned in the above categories. The
Kingston Middle School grading policy will be in effect.
CLASSROOM PROCEDURES AND EXPECTATIONS
1. Be in your assigned seat, working on the bell activity when the bell rings.
2. Be prepared for class (notebook, paper, pen or pencil). You will need a notebook to
leave in the classroom to use at the beginning of the period every day.
3. No food or drink in class.
4. Students must be in assigned seat before they are excused at the end of the period (no
