Grading System and Classroom Expectations Mr. Wright Room 306 Louisville Male High School Grading System: Grades will be calculated in compliance to the LMHS category percentages. 1) Student Mastery Tests 40% A = 90% - 100% A.P. = 90% – 100% 2) Student Master Other assessments 10% B = 80% - 89% A.P. = 80% - 89% 3) Student Progression Homework 29% C = 75% - 79% A.P. = 70% - 79% 4) Student Progression Other 1% D = 70% - 74% A.P. = 60% - 69% 5) Student Engagement Classwork 19% U = 0% - 69% A.P. = 0% - -59% 6) Student Engagement Other 1% Grade Calculation: Grades will be calculated and posted on Infinite Campus and are viewable online through the portal. Parents and Students were mailed access codes for this portal. Student Progress will be any assignment even if finished at home, laboratory exercises, and large assignments. Student Engagement will include smaller assignments (completed in class or at home), having class materials, weekly reading and summaries, and participation. The midterm and final exam are not averaged together. They are separately worth 1/14 of the final grade. The participation grade is earned as part of the homework. Asking relevant questions, answering, questions, enhancing class discussion, out-of-class involvement, and on-task behavior increases the grade. Off-task behavior, distractions, or disruptions of the teaching/learning process will not allow the student to earn full credit for participation. A positive attitude toward the class is also mandatory for full credit. Lates: Students must be seated and quiet by the time of the bell or a tardy slip is required. Running to the seat is not permitted, because of hazards due to the close desks, chairs, and lab tables. Late work: Late work is penalized by 1/2 the numerical amount per day it is late. It is the student's responsibility to ask for missed assignments and deliver the late and absent work to the teacher. Absences: If the student is absent, he/she has the number of days (not school days) they were absent plus one to turn in the work. It is the student’s responsibility to ask for missed work and EXAMS, NOT the teachers on the day they return to class. Write "ABSENT" at the top of the paper or they are graded as late papers with ½ credit. Make-up test will be given the day of return if the student was informed, so please make arrangements to get your study materials before returning. If the student is present for any part of the test day, the test must be taken or permission granted to take the test at a later date. Homework: Must be turned in on loose-leaf paper. Notebook paper with the tattered edges is not acceptable and will be counted late. Equipment: Do not touch or move any property of the teacher without permission (Especially my TOYS). Intentional misuse of classroom equipment will result in immediate detention, referral, or a consequence decided upon by the teacher. Accidental or intentional destruction of equipment requires a reimbursement of an equivalent value. Grading System and Classroom Expectations Mr. Wright Room 306 Louisville Male High School Supplies: (may only be borrowed at the beginning of class if available and may not be borrowed from other students. This is to teach accountability and responsibility for being prepared) Students must always have a text book , pencil, pen, loose-leaf paper, notebook (preferably perforated), Flash drive 2 pocket folders, scientific calculator and extra batteries (preferably TI-83 or above) and all other materials requested by the teacher for class. Students should keep colored pencils, protractor, and a metric ruler in their locker. If the student comes unprepared without notifying me before class, I will ask him/her to get his supplies from his locker and acquire a tardy slip. A large punishment (such as writing this paragraph 10 times) or after school work will be given to those without supplies. If a student’s supplies break or the batteries are depleted, the student needs to bring the broken material or dead battery to class to show accountability. Students who do not bring the book to class will have 10 points deducted from the participation grade. Cheating does not have to be proven. Any talking, or appearance that one is looking at another's paper or any aid during an exam will result in a 0%. Conduct Grades will reflect compliance with the general rules of Male High School, courteous behavior to the teacher and fellow students, and strict observance of lab rules and safety procedures.
