Purpose of the Role:
The Associate Philanthropy Manager is a highly professional individual who will work with the
Philanthropy team to secure and maintain income from a range of funders, primarily from GrantMaking Trusts (GMT), but also corporates and Individuals. The Associate Philanthropy Manager will
be an energetic team player, able to manage a busy and varied workload and work with all members
of the organisation to ensure an efficient and productive Philanthropy function
Key Responsibilities
Annual Target: £750K
• Contribute to and help to deliver the strategy that will produce the target of funds of £45m over
a five-year period, demonstrating progress towards the target over that period.
•
Personally deliver income against a personal target established with the Director of Philanthropy
and the Senior Manager of Philanthropy.
•
Manage a portfolio of funding partnerships, primarily Trusts and Foundations, also including
corporate donors and individuals, to achieve significant income for Impetus-PEF, maximizing
income across all available income streams.
•
Work closely with the wider organisation to build and execute donor stewardship and
development plans (events, communications, investment and pro bono teams). Ensuring key
internal stakeholders are kept up-to-date and consulted throughout.
•
Provide support and meticulous follow-up to the Chairman, Trustees, senior management and
senior volunteers to encourage introductions to potential sources of giving and to ensure their
successful involvement in the fund-raising process.
•
Ensure all communications with external stakeholders is prompt, clear and compelling, this
includes the continuing testing and honing of all fundraising collateral to continuously improve
the fundraising ask and stewardship strategies.
•
Help to create and monitor processes and systems to nurture a high performing team.
Work with the Philanthropy and Events teams to ensure fundraising events are a success, in
particular the annual awards dinner.
•
Demonstrating a level of professionalism and best practice across the philanthropy team and
within the organisation that is exemplary.
•
Build and maintain a pipeline of prospects for Impetus-PEF and carry out donor research in
support of this.
Fully complying with all of the organisation’s employment and other policies and procedures
Personal Specification

Graduate or equivalent.
The ability to work through the fund-raising cycle with donors.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience of corporate fundraising, major donor fundraising, including a good understanding
of the corporate donor marketplace
Experience of raising funds from grant-making trusts
Excellent relationship management and communication skills, with the ability to relate to
people at all levels in a range of business functions
Intellectually strong, able to grasp and interpret complex ideas, including the venture
philanthropy model of Impetus-PEF.
An organised, strong project manager with the ability to devise donor engagement plans and
use project/account plans, budgets, and other financial information
Presence, credibility, motivational skills, natural ability to command respect based on
experience, delivery and ability to look beyond own area of expertise.
•
Excellent relationship skills to establish and maintain contacts with key (internal and external)
stakeholders.
•
Working well under pressure with the ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced
environment while managing multiple projects.
