Position Objective:
Design and implement strategies for grant writing and developing new grant opportunities.
Primarily responsible for writing grants and their submission; organize and maintain The Raiser’s
Edge data base records and reports. Other responsibilities include processing confidential donor
receipts and acknowledgements, and donor pledge renewals; preparation of reports for major gift
prospects; and management of direct mail.
Education/Experience:
College graduate with Bachelor’s degree in business, communications or related field and a
minimum of two years of experience in non-profit philanthropy. Excellent organizational and
communication skills, both oral and written, required; as well as computer data entry, records
management, and proficient in Microsoft Office suite. The Raiser’s Edge fundraising software
experience, preferred.

Ability to maintain confidentiality in dealing with donations and the use of utmost tact and
diplomacy in dealing with donors, Board, staff and volunteers.

Self-starter who is friendly, customer focused, has above average oral and written
communication skills and is knowledgeable about all programs of YWCA Central Carolinas.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Assume primary responsibility for the grant process including writing grant applications,
compiling program information, filing required reports, maintaining calendars and tracking
information in a timely and effective manner.

Coordinate and implement procedures to maintain information in The Raiser’s Edge database.
Enter gifts and pledges, new fitness members, donor relationships, donor interest areas, staff
contacts and other appropriate information that results in the accuracy of data and aids in the
fundraising efforts of YWCA Central Carolinas.

Primary congregational liaison for YWCA. Responsible for strengthening relationships and
cultivating human and financial resources. Responsible for writing grants to appropriate
congregations.

Develop proposals to foundations, congregations and other prospective funding partners.

Acknowledge all gifts within one week of receipt.

Process and mail pledge payment reminders monthly/quarterly or as noted in the database per
donor request.

Run all reports and mailing lists for quarterly YWorks newsletter, monthly financial reports,
Constant Contact and Blackbaud Sphere invitations/announcements, and other activities as
required.

Assist in planning and implementing special events such as donor cultivations, donor
appreciation, annual luncheon, Racial Justice including annual Stand Against Racism, and other
events designed to increase visibility of and contributions to YWCA Central Carolinas.

Using The Raisers Edge Fundraising Essential module and other information as available,
prepares reports for CEO, Chief Philanthropy Officer and other staff as applicable.

Analyze donor information and giving patterns; bring new or important information to appropriate
staff.

Assist with the execution of the YWCA Central Carolinas’ overall development strategy.
Maintain a high level of stewardship with donors and community partners.

Conduct agency tours and makes presentations promoting the YWCA as appropriate, in
conjunction with key YWCA staff.

In concert with Marketing, research social media posts relevant to industry and posts to YWCA
social media pages as needed.

