Philanthropy – making a difference for others

Student groups to undertake research about agencies, local, national and global,
that have been set up to raise money, provide services or to offer opportunities for
people/groups/nations that are in some way underprivileged. Each group to take a
sector and develop a report for presentation to the other groups.

Each group to identify a particular organisation that has a good ‘fit’ with the
group’s values, to develop a concept and plan to support the chosen organisation
to carryout their work. This may involve raising money, developing relationships
with other organisations or personal input into the activities.

Present the plan of actions to the school management and then to the identified
organisation. This process will require gaining appropriate permissions from
parents, the school and the identified organisation.

Undertake the actions identified in the plan.
