This year I am excited to announce that I am participating in Dance Marathon at Florida
State University as a dancer (or a different capacity.) Now I know what you're thinking,
but the answer is no, I am not on a dance team. Let me tell you a little about who we are
and what we stand for.
Dance Marathon at Florida State is the 4th largest student run organization in the South
East. Over 1,800 students stand for two shifts of 20 hours each for our local Children's
Miracle Network hospital, Shands Children's Hospital, and the FSU College of Medicine
Pediatric Outreach Programs. The money we raise throughout the year helps our local
children through various avenues. The funds that will go towards Shands Children's
Hospital will help fund initiatives such as a new pediatric cardiac unit, a new pediatric
emergency room, research, and many other things the hospital may need. Our pediatric
outreach program through our very own College of Medicine provides medical services
in schools in Gadsden County, which has the lowest income rate in the state of Florida.
Dance Marathon at FSU is in it's 20th year of celebrating these amazing children! We
are excited to make miracles for the kids, and have been working hard to ensure that
our big goals and dreams become a reality. Last year we raised $781,196.22 and in the
20th year our goal to raise 1 million dollars. But we need your help! In order to reach
my goal, I wanted to ask the people who support me the most.
Below I have shared with you my personal fundraising page. I encourage you to donate,
even if it is just $5. While at Florida State University, I have been inspired by Dance
Marathon and the families we work so hard to support. These kids can't fight alone, they
need someone to help them, will you be that person? So maybe today don't get your
latte from Starbucks, or bring your lunch with you to work instead of spending money
out to eat. At Florida State University, we stand for miracles and for the kids.
