Dance Marathon 2015 Board of Directors Application Our Credo Families First Everything Counts Surrender Yourself Qualifications To qualify for a Director position, you must meet the following basic qualifications: Must be a full-time, Rutgers University student. Must have and maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA Must be in good standing with Rutgers University A full year of Dance Marathon involvement (Director, Assistant Director or Captain) is preferred. Comparable leadership/planning experiences may also be considered. Successful completion of previous Dance Marathon leadership responsibilities. Interviews Please note: Not all applicants are guaranteed an interview. Candidates selected for an interview will be notified by May 2nd Interviews will be held Sunday, May 4th. Interviews will last 45 minutes. Please wear professional attire. If invited to interview, candidates will be provided with interview preparation instructions. Important Director Information If selected, you must be able to commit to the following (there are no exceptions): Board of Directors planning retreat – May 19, 20, 21 Summer Board Meetings – twice a month Summer Team Meetings – Directors & Assistant Directors Director/CPT Retreat – August 28 & 29 (overnight) Weekly BOD/CPT meetings (Fall Semester: 7:30 PM / Spring Semester 7:00 PM) Football/Basketball Concessions – a minimum of 4 games Commit to raise $700.00 no later than February 23, 2015. Dance Marathon weekend – April 10, 11 & 12, 2015 Board of Directors The Board of Directors serves as the leadership team for Dance Marathon 2015. As a group, the Directors will set both broad and specific goals. It is their responsibility to provide the vision for next year’s Marathon. Individually, each Director will be responsible for one of the seven core areas of Marathon planning. All Directors will be expected to exhibit the following attributes: Knowledge and understanding of the Dance Marathon’s history and purpose Well-developed communication skills, both written and oral Ability to work cooperatively in a team setting Ability to hold peers/friends accountable Ability to handle diverse responsibilities Willingness to create and implement new ideas Willingness to commit the necessary time and energy needed by Dance Marathon A strong passion for the Dance Marathon Director Positions Director of Communication: This Director is charged with creating an effective communication strategy, using a variety of communication methods. The members of this team will coordinate all public relations strategies, manage the DM website, produce videos and coordinate all social media activity. Director of Entertainment: This Director will plan ambitious and creative Dance Marathon events. This team will create a comprehensive entertainment/activity plan for all pre-Marathon events as well as Marathon weekend activities. Responsibilities will include Theme Hour planning, Sunrise Walk, Morale, Video/media productions, Line Dance, activities/contests and Marathon entertainment. Director of Finance: This Director will manage all financial aspects of the Dance Marathon. The Director will create a comprehensive plan to solicit university and corporate funding. In addition, the Finance team will track all student fundraising efforts and coordinate special fundraising events. Additional areas of responsibility include, football/basketball concession fundraisers and DM Gear sales. Students applying for this position should have some background in accounting/finance. Director of Hospitality: This Director is responsible for planning, procuring and serving a balanced menu for Marathon weekend. Areas of responsibility include solicitation/ purchasing, logistics and kitchen/catering area management. Students applying for this position should have some experience in the food service industry. Director of Operations: This Director will coordinate all logistical planning for preMarathon and Marathon weekend activities. Areas of responsibility include security, emergency services, inventory, parking, visitor credentials, cleaning, vehicles and RAC set-up and breakdown. This team will work closely with university staff to coordinate all logistical aspects of Marathon weekend. Director of University Relations: This Director is charged with creating/enhancing relationships with key university constituencies. Areas of responsibility include the planning and/or coordination of all special events including DM involvement at New Student Orientation. In addition, this team will interface with all major governing/programming councils (and their members) to promote Dance Marathon involvement. University Relations will also oversee the year-long RU4Kids program. Director of Volunteer Management: This Director will effectively educate and manage the Dance Marathon volunteer contingent (Dancers, Captains and Volunteers). The Volunteer Management Team will coordinate all Dancer logistics (registration, communication and education). In addition this team will plan and execute all hiring and training events and coordinate all staff logistics (registration, communication and scheduling.)
