B A C K 2 S C H OO L GIVE A KID A BACKPACK! “BRE AKING BREAD” NEWSLETTER SUMMER 2013 TWIN LAKES FOOD BANK “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” Serving the Community with the Love of God since 1986 Did you know that more than 787 school children returned to class last fall better equipped to succeed because of your support? School is out, and we are already preparing for our Back 2 School Backpack Drive. Each year, with the help of our community, Twin Lakes Food Bank prepares children for their first day of school with new backpacks, school supplies and shoes. Last year our community came together and helped over 787 children. This year we anticipate that we will help over 850. Many of us remember going to the store with our parents and picking out a brand new backpack and supplies for the school year. We see many parents “food insecure” not knowing where their next meal will come from. They juggle with the question to pay utility bills on time or to buy groceries. They just don’t have the money to buy the supplies the kids need to start the school year. Together we will help our kids return to school with basic supplies they need to succeed. Now through JULY 25th we are collecting new backpacks and school supplies for children ages Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade for the 2013-14 academic years. “I think my backpack’s pretty cool & my favorite color. My mom is happier now. I am going to get good grades.” Noah 5th Grader BACK 2 SCHOOL DISTRIBUTION AUGUST 5TH FROM 8:30am to 11:30am New Backpack New School Supplies Payless Shoe Source Gift Card A new package of Socks Healthy Bag of Snacks from Raley’s “Food for Families” Dental Kit Make a financial donation so each student will receive a new backpack and a pair of shoes Donate a backpack and/or school supplies Donate a new package of socks Make an on-line donation: www.twinlakesfoodbank.org Donate gently worn school clothes or coats Do a backpack drive at your workplace On checks make note “School” for the correct fund CONTACTS Tammy Thompson, Rob Webb (916) 985-6232 e mail: rob@twinlakesfoodbank.org For a list of school supplies, visit us on the web: www.twinlakesfoodbank.org Join us on Facebook.
