Course aims are to:
 to enable students to build their substantive understanding of social and cultural issues in a comparative context;
 to facilitate students to develop a critical understanding of theoretical arguments which have been used to explain global social and cultural patterns, their
similarities and variations;
 to assist students to acquire the skills needed to make use of ethnographic material.
